Now that I’m a “little older,” I’ve found that the sense of adventure I once had in my youth has returned – somewhat. I’m a little smarter and a little more wary about the consequences of adventure, but the thrill of trying something new is back with a vengeance! With that sense of adventure, I’m tackling the new role of “blogging grandma!” But first, I should introduce myself!
I have been married to the greatest guy on earth, Mark, for 30 years. We have three wonderful children and three of the cutest grandchildren in the world, of course. And to our great delight, we have two more grandchildren due in March! As I blog each month, you will meet each of the members of my family as they are the reason that I have anything to say at all. But since this is an introduction, I will go through the order of my family and give a tidbit of information about them.
First is our oldest, and only daughter, Alexis. She is married to her junior high school sweetheart (truly – that’s no typo), Marcus. They have a daughter named Elsa, who turned one year old on June 20. They are expecting baby number two in March!
Our next child, John, is married to Brittany. Together they have a seven-year-old daughter named Gracie and a two-year-old son named Benson. They are expecting baby number three in March as well! As a matter of fact, Brittany is due nine days after Alexis’ due date!
Our youngest child, Derek, is at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. After two years of studying music, he has decided to major in finance at the university’s College of Business Administration.
So there’s the rundown of my family. Now, let me tell you a bit about my interests and maybe you will find a place where our interests intersect! I love bike riding, scuba diving, reading, listening to music, meeting new people and loving the people already in my life. I enjoy spending time with my husband, and together we like to bike and scuba dive. We truly help each other through this life together. I am a Christian, so my perspective is greatly influenced by my faith. It’s also the source of what keeps me positive!
However, I don’t want to portray that my life is perfect. If it was, then I’d have nothing to blog about! Those imperfections and learning experiences are what unite us all, and hopefully because of those, I’ll have something to say that encourages you while we journey together as new friends!
