Last week, I read the “Ask the Doctor” column in the Lincoln Journal Star. I’m not a frequent reader of the column, but I do look at the headlines, and I will read the article if I think it’s a topic that could affect me. The title of this “Ask the Doctor” column was “Can Grandparents Be a Bad Influence?”.
I participate in two book clubs, each one very unique with members providing different perspectives due to the diverse membership. I love the challenges these book clubs give me. Reading books I would not pick up on my own and participating in the discussions are amazing experiences.
On New Year’s Day, I mentioned to my grandkids that I was thinking about resolutions for 2018. They immediately wanted to know what those resolutions were. Being the old teacher, I put it back on them. What would they resolve for 2018?

The other day, I received a quick text from Granddaughter #2. “Remember those fatheads from last year’s state volleyball tournament?” My first thought was, “Is she calling me a fathead?”

I started getting excited about the 2017 eclipse at the beginning of the year. I knew it was coming, I knew it was going to be a once-in-a-lifetime event, and I knew I wanted a party.
I’m the grandma of four beautiful and loving grandchildren. They teach me a great deal about life and love. They give more to me than I’ll ever be able to give to them. This past week, though, being a grandma was a little different.
During the summer months, volunteers are more apt to be on vacation, so we frequently find ourselves in need of additional help. Occasionally, one or all of my grandkids will help out, and their support is always greatly appreciated.
