Sometimes you get a once in a lifetime chance. A chance to choose to impact a person, a family. You may not get a standing ovation or a tight gripped hug, but would you still make the choice to help?
I challenged the people of Lincoln with this question in my last blog and I am so excited to say that the challenge was accepted!
On May 31st, Bryan Health put on an amazing event at the Kiechel Fine Art Building in downtown Lincoln to help move their vision of a NICU Healing Garden forward. The evening was full of laughter, wine, food and people who were deeply moved to be a part of something impactful. Among the guests were previous NICU families who shared their stories and were able to represent the cause and show support for the Healing Garden.
When you arrived, NICU nurses and staff who had volunteered were there to greet you. As you moved through the first floor, you could hear live music and see guests spinning a wheel to win bottles of wine that had been donated for the event. Each floor had a variety of delicious hors d’ouvres and desserts.
Throughout the gallery special videos shared the stories of the NICU families and their support for the Healing Garden and how it would have helped not only them but future babies, families, and staff to come. I invite you to watch the video to hear their stories.
After all donations, sponsorships and ticket sales, Sweet Baby Blues had more than 400 guests and raised a total of $102,000 in charitable donations. This is incredible! I’m so proud to say I have been part of this journey with Bryan Health. I am moved to tears that so many people made a choice to help. Their generous contributions will impact families they will never know and babies they will never see.
Here’s to you, from a NICU graduate and her family! Cheers!
